'I got unfinished business!' Ezekiel Elliott eyes Super Bowl ring in his second stint with the Cowboys

His rise to be one of the best running backs in the league continued for the next few seasons. Elliott crossed 1000 yards in four of his first six seasons, leading the league twice in rushing yards.

However, the regular season numbers never materialized during the playoffs. Apart from the 2016 and 2018 seasons, Ezekiel Elliot never managed to cross 100 yards. The Cowboys only won two postseason games when he was in Arlington.

He wants to change that in his second stint with the Dallas franchise. But he will be part of a massive lineup of running backs that includes Rico Dowdle, Deuce Vaugh, Malik Davis, Hunter Luepke, and journeyman Royce Freeman.

Elliott has to prove himself to be the No. 1 running back, and the Ohio State graduate believes he has the required materials in his locker to be the main man.

I think I am still a dominant guy. I’ve got to go out there and prove that. That’s the motivation. Elliott said during a Cowboys charity event on Wednesday night.

Moreover, he wants to make the one-year $3 million deal count by winning the Super Bowl.

I’ve got unfinished business. I’m here to chase the ring. Elliott added.

Elliott will not be wearing his previous No. 21 jersey. Instead, he has opted to wear the No. 15 owned by Trey Lance who agreed to go with No. 19.

Dak Prescott is excited to have Ezekiel Elliott back in Dallas

One of the main reasons Elliott’s numbers with the Cowboys were high was because of his telepathic understanding with quarterback Dak Prescott. After Elliott was cut from the team to manage the team’s finances, the Cowboys run game dipped massively in 2023.

Tony Pollard tried his best to fill the gaping hole in the running back slot. It wasn’t enough to satisfy owner Jerry Jones. Pollard was then allowed to join the Tennessee Titans during free agency in 2024. Jones promised to sign a new player, but instead, he decided to bring Elliott back to Dallas.

After the news broke, Prescott was excited to link up with his old friend.

Ezekiel Elliott is the third-leading rusher in Cowboys history. He has 8,262 yards and only trails two Pro Football Hall of Famers, Emmitt Smith and Tony Dorsett .
